"If they have spent their childhood and subsequent years in the UK then they are British, whether or not they have the requisite piece of paper that confirms this. It is completely unacceptable, disproportionate and unspeakably cruel to send people into what amounts to permanent exile to satisfy some perceived need to be tough on immigration and crime.”
