On 28th June 2022 our team made up of BID staff, volunteers and supporters took on the 10km London Legal Walk to raise money for our advice line.
Our Legal Walk Team raring to go at the start line of the event.
For many people who are detained, BID’s advice line is the first point of contact for legal advice. Our advice line was set up with £300 and a small amount of free office space in June 1998. Since then, we have supported over 46,000 people with free legal advice.
Now the beating heart of our casework office in London, our advice line is staffed by our Legal Managers and incredible casework volunteers. It costs £250 a week to run the advice line and the team were hoping to raise enough for 6 weeks and ended up raising enough for more than 10!
Even the dogs donned their t-shirts for BID!
Annie Viswanathan, BID director said “As always, we are incredibly grateful to our dedicated community for supporting our work. A huge thank you to everyone who walked with us and to everyone who so generously sponsored us. We’ll get to work putting every penny to good use.”
