Since November 2020, the Home Office has been using GPS technology to monitor (24/7, every minute of the day and night) the location of non-British citizens on immigration bail, including asylum seekers and many born or raised in the UK.
And, as usual, private companies are profiting from it. In the words of our client:
"There is an intimate connection between policy and business. When the Home Office announces racialised policies that oppress minorities, it is businesses like Capita that benefit.
Capita themselves claim they care about anti-racism, community & health & safety, but why are they not considering the impact of tracking on people? It severely affects people's health; there is no hope, and it slowly breaks you down.
Capita’s shareholders have to speak up and we, the wider society, have to question the government and its contractors. We have to stand up for what is right and voice our opinions, otherwise, they are free to do what they want."
